Today is Scottish Housing Day 2026, and we at WSHA have been busy preparing to celebrate.
This year's theme focuses on the important connection between housing, physical health and mental wellbeing. Everyone should have access to a safe, secure home and the services they need to support good physical and mental health, whether they are a social housing tenant, a private tenant or a homeowner. Investing in homes and support services not only improves people's lives but can also deliver significant value for money, resulting in savings for key partners such as the NHS.
To mark this important occasion, we have undertaken a range of activities over the past few weeks.
On Friday 11 September, we welcomed pupils from our local primary schools to The Whiteinch Centre and transformed them into Housing Detectives. The children followed a series of clues to discover how our homes help us stay healthy and support our wellbeing. They also enjoyed decorating miniature houses to represent what home means to them. To finish the day, they added messages to our wellbeing tree, sharing how their homes help keep them healthy and happy.
Our staff team also took part in the celebrations by responding to a series of questions from our partners at the Chartered Institute of Housing. Their answers, featured in the infographics, highlight the many ways WSHA works to support the health and wellbeing of both our tenants at home and our staff in the workplace.
We are proud to recognise the positive impact that good-quality housing can have on people's lives and are delighted to celebrate Scottish Housing Day 2026 with our communities.
Happy Scottish Housing Day!
